design & development of technical run commuting pack

product management intern at belong designs
Working at a smaller brand I was able to wear many different hats and learn many different things. First and foremost, I had an opportunity to dive in to fit and comfort. I was responsible for measuring each style in the last four seasons: Spring/Summer 2019, Fall/Winter 2019, Spring/Summer 2020, and Fall/Winter 2020 to make sure the flatlay dimensions of each apparel item were accurate based on their tech packs. I also designed sizing silhouettes for each line to help others understand how the garments were measured. Through all of that, I was able to identify which styles were running too big or too small in specific areas so we can take a closer look, or update the tech pack to have better and more accurate measurements.

I worked with a third party company to launch BodyBlock Recommend, an app extension that allowed customers to input their information (height, weight, age, body shape, etc.) and the program would then utilize that information and compare it to what our measurements were to the apparel. Then it would recommend a specific size to the customer based on the type of fit they are looking for. I provided the measurements I took the last four seasons to BodyBlock so they could align their program to our product sizes to allow the app to do its job.

about belong designs

I've had the absolute pleasure of interning with Belong Designs, a lifestyle outdoor apparel brand built for the modern day adventurer, based in Denver, Colorado. Co-Founders Mark Grubbs, Shamus McNutt and Ben Thomson started Belong Designs in 2013. They felt limited in what they could choose as a career after graduating with Mechanical Engineering degrees, and became inspired by people chasing a paycheck doing what they love. They created Belong Designs not planning that it was going to be an apparel company, but that it was more mission driven than anything else. They created their first t-shirts because they had $800 to their names post-graduation, and needed to make some money. After a successful interaction with a customer, they ended up sticking with clothing because it resonated with so many and they loved what the brand brought to the world.
